Where: Sheraton Hotel,
Denver, Colorado, USA
Presentations: The Wizard of Oz approach: A method for developing assistive technology prototypes
Session ID: WS #7 Date & Time: Friday, June 12, 2015 – 1:15pm to 2:30pm Location: Governor Square 16 Organizers: Pooja Viswanathan, Genevieve Foley, Jen Boger, Rosalie Wang
Description: Development of functional prototypes of computer-based assistive technologies is time consuming and costly. The “Wizard of Oz” approach uses a human operator who emulates computer control of the prototype device or system. This approach allows developers to conceptualize, implement, and evaluate a device or system functionality prior to full development. Using Wizard of Oz allows representative users to provide feedback and enables the team to examine usefulness and usability issues. This workshop will explore the application of Wizard of Oz to assistive technology development for users with disabilities. Case studies will be presented by the organizers. Participant will then brainstorm and discuss new applications of the Wizard of Oz approach.
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON REHABILITATION ROBOTICS (ICORR 2015)
Where: Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore
ICORR covers several disciplines with both theoretical and experimental challenges in robotics, control engineering and neuroscience applied to healthcare. Primary focus is to propose cutting edge solutions to boost the rehabilitation process, providing robotic assistance to address and speed motor recovery , trying to unveil the mechanisms underlying brain plasticity.
